Madeleine Yong

Founder & Executive Committee Member

Madeleine Yong is a pioneering advocate and trauma-informed practitioner who has spent over 25 years advancing child protection and child sexual abuse prevention and treatment in Malaysia. As Founder and Executive Director of P.S. The Children, she broke the silence on child sexual abuse in Malaysia through national advocacy, public education, and systems reform that changed the country's landscape. She initiated Childline Malaysia, led the country's largest national prevalence study on child sexual abuse, shaped the Sexual Offences Against Children Act and the National Child Protection Policy, and led Malaysia's national child participation process for the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children.

Today, Madeleine serves as a Registered Play Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, Certified Accredited HRDC Trainer, and Founder of Power of Play, specialising in trauma-sensitive practices, relational neurobiology, healing circles and emotional regulation for children, families, educators, and corporations. As Course Director, she trains mental health professionals, educators, NGOs, and organisations across Asia in play therapy. She holds an MA in Practice-Based Play Therapy from Leeds Beckett University.

She brings to the P.S. The Children Board the governance experience of a founder, the clinical depth of a practitioner, and a commitment to child dignity, safeguarding, recovery, and sustainable systems change.
